The Future Is In Our Hands

Today roughly sixteen percent of the United States is over the age of sixty five. But why does this matter? Well, as we progress as a country so is our health expectancy. As we progress though the years more and more people are starting to qualify for medicare. Forty five percent of seniors do not have any retirement savings. This means that these elders are using government related programs meaning that as time progresses we are losing more money. Yet another problem lies in the fact that current day workers are not putting as much into their job as their grandparents and older generation once did. Less money coming in and more money leaving into the pockets of these seniors in a heavily in debt America is a huge problem.

As stated in the Article “The Graying of America” By The Week Staff  we are also going to start spending more money on heath care (from about four trillion to six trillion) and we are projected to lose five hundred thousand home health aides, one hundred thousand nursing assistant, twenty nine thousand nurse practitioners and up to one hundred twenty two thousand doctors by the year 2032. The older generation has set a great place for us to live up for us. If it were not for their acts of bravery and courageousness we would not be living in the free America that we were given at birth.

Now these people who have given us so much are starting to become old, some are also beginning to die. The way our country is headed is scary and like the older generation, we need to be brave, try to make changes and keep this country a nice safe place for our kids to live in. We need to make these changes for future generations not even for us necessarily. Imagine living in a world were you will not have to worry about your future.

I will work every day and go through what it takes to keep America the amazing country it is today and help our grandparents live happy lives while we take over their roles and put this country in the right direction. Though i doubt myself in the end, and one person trying to make a change is very hard to do without the support and effort of others. Though in the end I hope that everyone will stand with me and the rest of our generation to truly keep America great.
